Light is closely related to our lives and is one of the conditions for human survival. We know the most about the use of light for lighting. The reason why we can see things clearly in life is because of the existence of light.
The degree to which the light source presents the color of the object itself is called color rendering, that is, the degree of color realism. The color rendering of the light source is characterized by the color rendering index, which indicates the deviation of the color of the object under the light from the color of the reference light illumination, and can more comprehensively reflect the color characteristics of the light source. The International Commission on Illumination CIE sets the color rendering index of the sun at 100, and the color rendering index of various light sources is different.
There are two types of color rendering:
1. Faithful color rendering: To correctly express the original color of the substance, a light source with a high color rendering index (Ra) is required. The closer the value is to 100, the better the color rendering.
2. Effect color rendering: To clearly emphasize a specific color and express a beautiful life, additive color can be used to enhance the color rendering effect.
According to different application sites, the International Commission on Illumination (CIE) generally divides the color rendering index into five categories:
Category Ra Applicable Scope
1. A>90 Art galleries, museums, printing and other industries and places
2. 80-90 Homes, restaurants, advanced textile technology and similar industries
3. 60-80 Offices, schools, outdoor street lighting
4. 40-60 Heavy industrial factories, outdoor street lighting
5. 20-40 Outdoor road lighting and some places with low requirements
So, what is a high-quality light source?
1. The light emitted by the light source is full-color light. The so-called full-color light means that the spectrum is continuously distributed within the visible range of the human eye, and the vision is not easily fatigued.
2. There should be no ultraviolet light and infrared light in the light spectrum.
3. The color temperature of the light should be close to natural light.
4. The light is non-stroboscopic.
