He identified three lighting design strategies.
1. Enhance focus light
The focus light is like the following light on a modern stage, and the enhanced focus light is to shine the spotlight on your favorite reading seat, like the rising sun at the end of a canyon, like the sea, the lighthouse of happiness, or sometimes it is the small beam of hand electricity in front of you as you walk down a dim staircase.
Enhanced focus light can make the illuminated object clearer and clearer, it can separate the important things from the pile of unimportant things, so that people can see at a glance.
2. Reduce ambient light
Red flowers need green leaves to support them, which is how they reduce ambient light.
Just like the endless grassland at 6 in the morning, just like the sea in the vast fog, through a boat fishing fire, but also like the broad river, the river, the bank and the sky blurred into a dim sky.
This is why art galleries prefer white walls, transparent ceilings and strips of light. The reduced ambient light dissolves the shape and volume of the background object, but makes the focus more three-dimensional.
3.Introduce decorative light
What is decorative light?
It is New York's Times Square at night, it is the 18th century banquet hall lit by candlelight and crystal chandeliers, it may be the bouncing sunlight reflected by a fountain or a babbling brook, it may be the diamond buried in a cave, it may be the colorful rose window in a church, it stimulates people's body and spirit, inspires people, even increases appetite, stimulates curiosity and imagination.
Enhancing focus light, weakening ambient light, introducing decorative light, this is the three lighting strategies often used in architectural lighting, although in many cases one of the strategies will be deliberately highlighted, but most of the time the three strategies always complement each other.
