One of the best ways to get into the festive spirit is to head to some of the UK's spectacular Christmas light-up ceremonies.
From Kew Garden to Oxford Street, there are plenty of exciting spectacles, some of which have already begun, and these Christmas lights will illuminate the UK capital until 2025.
Southbank
The Southbank Centre kicks off the festive season on November 1 with lavish art exhibitions, pop-up shops and nearby Christmas markets.
"Each artist uses light and color in an interesting way while exploring topics at the forefront of society, such as personal and collective identity, the environment and technology," said the Southbank Centre. After marveling at the outdoor artworks, stroll along the Southbank to enjoy the Christmas markets and riverside pop-up shops.
Oxford Street
Every year, shoppers heading to London's busiest shopping mall walk under a spectacular array of festive lights and decorations.
Oxford Street's Christmas lights will start to light up on November 5.
According to reports, more than 300,000 lights will be hung above Oxford Street until early January.
On December 7, Oxford Street will also celebrate "Big Fun Day", which will host music events, street performances and in-store activities
.
Trafalgar Square
While Trafalgar Square's Christmas tree has been opposed by citizens in previous years, there is nothing better than admiring the spectacular lights and festive atmosphere here in the coming months.
This year's tree switching will conflict with the celebrations on Oxford Street on November 5.
The event will take place from 5.30pm to 6.30pm and include Christmas market stalls and plenty of festive fun.
Regent Street
Regent Street was actually one of the first locations in central London to start displaying Christmas lights in 1954.
It will also light up this year's festive lights from Thursday, November 7.
This year, a "wishing tree" has also been erected in nearby St James's Market, where passers-by can donate to the charity Felix Project to power the Christmas tree's lights.
Covent Garden
This year, around 260,000 lights are expected to illuminate Covent Garden from November 12.
There will also be several impressive festive displays around the square, including a Christmas sleigh, 40 giant bells and, of course, a 55-foot Christmas tree.
Not much has been confirmed about when it will be switched on, but it is expected to be sometime after dusk.
Marilebone
From November 13, Marylebone will also join in the Christmas fun with its own Christmas light switch-on ceremony.
Jolly Marylebone will run from 3-8pm and will feature a number of musical acts and market stalls. Hosted by BBC London broadcaster Joe Goode, the main lights will be switched on at 6pm.
Kew Garden
At Kew, the Christmas lights event will also kick off on November 13.
Christmas fans can enjoy Kew's festive lights from 4.20pm to 10pm every day until January, except on November 18, 19, 25 and December 2 and 25.
This is a ticketed event, so if you're planning on going, it's best to book early.
Belgravia
Belgravia's Christmas lights will be switched on on November 17.
During the event, which runs from 11am to 4pm, guests can meet Santa and spot several recognisable Christmas characters in the area.
The lights on Elizabeth Street will switch on at 3.45pm.
